There are some things that set luxury or otherwise high end hotels from the rest of the hotel pack. The obvious one is the quality of the facilities. More expensive hotels are expected to have better rooms, a quality pool, perhaps even a gym, a spa or a massage parlor, perhaps all three in one, quality bars and restaurants.
But what really sets a quality hotel apart from the average ones are the quality of the staff and the service they provide for you. The finest example of this is the hotel concierge. Staying in a hotel with a good concierge is the kind of thing that makes you happy that all the cheap Dorset hotel rooms were booked and you had to stay at a more expensive one. I gave Dorset as an example because it’s a place that’s relatively small, but you’d still have a hard time figuring out where to go on a slow Wednesday night to have some fun.
But the concierge’s job isn’t just about sending you to the perfect bar to watch the football and drink a couple of beers. It’s his or her job to help you out with anything you need to find on the town. Need an all night dry cleaners?

You may be only a few days into your holiday when your plans change. Whether you’ve moved the day of your flight, or want some extra days to explore more of the area, you will need to find accommodation. Many hotels have availability flexibility, which means even though you only booked a week, you can often get a couple extra days if you ask. It is important to give the hotel as much notice as possible, so you are more likely to take advantage of the availability.
If it is high season, you may find that the hotel is booked full. If you won’t be able to extend your stay at that particular hotel, you’ll find yourself in need of immediate accommodation. If you have some notice, you can search online for other hotels in the area. Bedfordshire hotels alone are in abundance throughout the city, and no matter where you are, there should be more options nearby.
It is important to consider all your options as soon as you know you’re staying longer. High tourism seasons can mean hotels are booked for weeks in advance. Getting a last minute room can be difficult, but it won’t be impossible. Find and contact the hotels in your area as soon as possible.
Anytime during the the year people will travel to far away destinations to see the sights of other countries. If you have a large family or are meeting someone to travel with, you will probably need a rental car that is large enough to carry everyone and their luggage. Booking early is a good idea as this size of vehicle is popular. 7 seater car hire is available in many countries and most major cities as well as airports.
With the right size vehicle you will have the room you need because comfort is important. This type of vehicle could be a full size MPV like a minivan or a small commercial van. The VW Sharan will hold seven people comfortably as well as three pieces of luggage.
A minivan like the Vauzhall Zafira will hold four adults and two children along with three pieces of luggage and so is another car that you can choose from. Rental cars come in all sizes to fit your needs and there are so many to choose from. Some are basic and have better gas mileage but if you like luxury, those cars can be rented also. Whatever your needs, you can certainly find the car the is right for your trip.
The month of May has been and passed and as we enter June, a month synonymous with sunshine, you get the feeling summer has well and truly arrived. The sunglasses are out, ice cream sellers are running predictably low on 99’s and screwballs, and the chino shorts brigade are out in full force.
The summer vibe near full flow but there is one area of the anatomy which is so often overlooked; your feet.
There is something quite wonderful and liberating about wearing sandals in the summer. For at least 8 months of the year, your feet are suffocated behind thick cotton socks and sturdy, clumpy shoes. Suddenly, as the warm weather arrives and the mass shedding of clothing begins, your feet are free again. Summer sandal season is upon us.
This time though, put some thought into your purchase and don’t just opt for the first pair they meet your eyes. There are important aspects of a sandal to consider before parting with your cash, including design, comfort and durability. Sandals need to conform to your foot. They are supposed represent casualness and liberation – not awkward, uncomfortable aching ankles!
The new range of Keen sandals feature all the attributes that help make the perfect summer sandal. The extensive selection available ensure there is a sandal to suit and soul. The Newport range are perhaps the slip-on of choice, and feature a metanomical footbed which conforms to your foot’s shape for personalised comfort that goes beyond ordinary. They also feature an Aegis Microbe Shield which helps prevent the build up of harmful bacteria around the foot – a vital necessity for the hikers among you.
Whichever pair you opt for, you will be safe in the knowledge a proper pair of sandals will not only have your feet looking great, they will feel great too.
Many of us have seen the musical Mamma Mia that’s set in Greece. Its paradisiacal settings look like they belong in a beautiful Pacific island, with clear blue waters, white sand beaches and beautiful and luxurious vegetation. But the truth is, you don’t need to travel all the way across the World to find something like that. Greece is indeed a country of beautiful beaches, as proved by the fact that the entire movie was indeed shot in Greece and, no, no camera filters or green screens were used to make it look extra beautiful.
Greece holidays are the full package of relaxing beaches, welcoming people with an amazing history and marvelous cuisine and an active social life at all hours of the day. And the cheap hostel that you saw in the famous Abba musical turned blockbuster movie is also something very common around the country, which makes a Grecian holiday both a fun filled, relaxed and affordable option. Your travel agent will certainly be more than happy to present you with several different packages with many options to choose from, from the amazing beaches and picturesque white town houses of Santorini to the busy and history filled streets of Athens.
Going to Cyprus to spend your holidays is one of the best decisions you can possible make in your life. Spending time in Cyprus’ beautiful resorts is an excellent way to spend your holidays, and something that won’t break your bank.
Getting to Cyprus may be more expensive, at times, than spending some time there. Taking a ferry or a cheap airline to the island of Cyprus is the best way to get there in comfort and in style, and without breaking the bank.
Once in Cyprus, the best choice for holidays, especially if you’re travelling with your family, is to go to one of the beautiful holiday resorts in the island. Cheap holidays in Protaras tourist resort, as well as in the Ayia Napa holiday resort are easy to find, as these locations are usually frequented by Cypriot naturals with their families. Staying in one of the many hostels and cheap hotels is a good option if you’re on a tight budget, but you can also consider camping as a cheap option for your stay.
The island is relatively small, so choosing one of the resorts as your “base camp” and then travelling around the area is a fun option for a day well spent.
Finding a cheap hotel is sometimes like finding the proverbial needle in a haystack. There’s no sure fire way to save money when booking a hotel, but there are ways that you can increase your chances of finding a good deal, even you’re not good at finding cheap hotels or hostels.
The first advice I can give you is look online. If you do your online homework, you’ll be able to compare deals and at least have an idea of what you’re going to find, there’s also often a discount for booking online, which will help, no doubt.
You should also look for deals at travel agents. They’re experts at finding cheap rates, they often have their own discounts and, in case you get a travel package at a reputable travel agent, you’ll probably buy a quality holiday. Just make sure that whatever commission or service fee they charge won’t make it more expensive.
If all else fails, you can try the ultimate cliffhanger advice: try to book a room on the spot. Often hotel reception staff is very helpful and will let you know how to get the cheaper rates at the hotel. It may also be a good time to see the manager and try to convince him or her to give you a cheaper rate, especially if you’re staying for more than a week.

The Mediterranean is possible the most beautiful destination in the World for cruises, coupling beautiful water and beaches with breathtaking cities and ancient history. I recently took a cruise on the most darling of cruise ships that took me around the Eastern Mediterranean, starting in Venice and ending back in that beautiful city after going through Croatia, Greece, Turkey and Bari in Italy. I must admit I was a little skeptical about Croatia, since I’m not very familiar with the country, but I was swept away by the beauty of Dubrovnik. But I’m a history buff and the prize for the most interesting stop definitely goes for the next stop: Olympia in Greece, home of the Olympics.
In Turkey, Istanbul was one of the busiest and most picturesque capitals I’ve ever seen, full of life and where you can’t stop discovering new beautiful corners and niches. Izmir, the next stop in Turkey, was the cutest little town and a welcome relaxation after the somewhat stressful, busy streets on the Turkish capital. A long trip across the beautiful Mediterranean waters back to Italy – Bari and to a resemblance of Western culture was a welcome change. It was such an amazing experience that, honestly, I’m thinking of doing it all over again.

Unjustly called “the poor man’s St Stephen’s”, St. Peter’s Church is one of the finest examples of Baroque architecture integrated into a cityscape. But it was not always so. The site where the church is located was home to what is believed to be the oldest church in Vienna, already consecrated to St. Peter. It is said that the church was founded by Charlemagne in the early Medieval Age, around 800 AD. This church was expanded in the Romanesque style, and around that time it was the most important church in Vienna.
In 1701 construction began in the church site, with view of building a Baroque style church with a dome, inspired by St Peter’s Cathedral in the Vatican, whose construction was given to Gabriele Montani, who was replaced by Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt in 1703. The Baroque altar is the masterpiece of this church and by itself is worth a visit. Just remember that during mass tourist presence is forbidden.
Getting to the church is easy enough, since it’s located right in the main walking center of Vienna, very close to St. Stephan’s. If you’re problem is getting to Vienna, remember that cheap flights to Vienna are available all year around.

Flights to Belfast used to be either few and far between, very inconsistent and prone to re-scheduling or a marathon of lengthy terminal waits and transfers in London’s less glamorous airports. But luckily for the traveler curious to find out more about this great capital, it’s now a lot easier to travel to and from Belfast International Airport.
The airport is now fully integrated with the city, and you’ll find a bus route to and from the city center, operated by a reliable private contractor. There is also the option of using the train line, for those of us who like the comfort of what is probably the most romantic means of transportation ever designed by man (the Roman litter comes a close second). If you’re more of the driving type, the M4 freeway will also take you straight to Belfast – with access to anywhere else in Northern Ireland too.
Ease of use is often one of the main reasons why people travel to certain destinations, but that certainly isn’t the case for Northern Ireland. Although the airport is fully equipped and is now an important hub, the city is what draws people in, for its clever mix of the old and the new.
